Most offices are located in the Spencer County courthouse at 200 Main St. in Rockport, Indiana. But there are several annex and stand alone offices located throughout the county. County Assessor Sara J Arnold reminds property owners the tax bill is serving as your notice of assessment. Taxpayers have 45 days from the date of mailing to file an appeal on the assessment or value determined for the parcel with the Assessor’s Office. The last day to file an appeal is Thursday, May 17th. You cannot appeal the amount of taxes only the assessment. To view a property record card for accuracy taxpayers should go to spencer.in.wthgis. If you feel the assessment is incorrect an appeal can be filed by filing a Form 130 which is available on-line at in.gov/dlgf or by contacting the Assessor’s office at 649-2381. A Form 130 is not required to file an appeal. A letter can be substituted. The letter must include the property owners name, address, daytime phone number, parcel number (18 digit number that starts with 74), property description and the reason for the appeal. Appeals should be mailed to the Assessor’s Office, 200 Main, Suite 11, Rockport, IN 47635. Appeals must be postmarked on or before May 17th for consideration.Contact the Assessor’s Office at 649-2381 or assessor.psci.net if you have any questions.
Property Tax Bills
Spencer County Treasurer, Anita G Frakes announces that the 2011 payable 2012 Property Tax Bills were mailed out directly from the printers on April 2nd. If you have not received your tax bill by the middle of April please contact our office at (812)649-4556 or email me at:spencertrea@psci.netThe Spring installment deadline will be May 10, 2012.
This is also the last year for the Pink Homestead Credit forms. If you have not turned one in yet please make sure to turn one in by the end of this year.
